Sometimes when you pick up an item and feel it in your hands it just oozes quality. This is the best way I can describe the Brinyte PT16A. While I have tested many lights, it is rare to find one with such a nice tactile quality. I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but the PT16A feels very premium and well made from every aspect. And generally a cut above many of the lights I have owned, bought or reviewed.
To summerise, the machining, anodising, threads, switch boots, switch feel and construction all feel top notch and I can’t find a single element to complain about.
The PT16A is designed for tactical use, however the basic design would easily allow it to be a good EDC, camping or general use light too. It has a nice array of modes, is easy to use, good in the hand without being too big and bulky and pretty good output and throw numbers. Making it a highly capable all rounder.
But it is clearly designed to excel as a tactical style light, from the glass breaker studs on the bezel to the instant access turbo, momentary and strobe features. The only downside I have, and it is a minor one. The tailcap is angled and recessed to make the 2nd button easy to get to, this means the light will not tailstand.
As for the optional accessories and variable configurations you can use the light in. Well, I could talk for ages on all of these. However, they all work and function well, depending on what you want to use the light for. The Holster is a nice design and well made, the cigar grip and clip are all great. And the Picatinny mounts, while a little tight to fit around the flashlight body, do fit and I had no issues with them on my shotgun or rifle. You could mount it to a pistol, although a light of this size, I’d personally find it too big and heavy for pistol use. The remote switch is clearly designed for the length of a rifle or shotgun stock.
The remote switch is rubber coated and feels very durable. While still offering a dual switch setup too.
